[:1]I don't mind losing. But I hate losing merely because my team is retarded. I'm in the 40-49 bracket. It's not real high, but it's high enough that everyone in there should have a clue as to how to play. Yet sadly, they don't.
I'll start with Warsong Gultch. I just came from a battle where we were down 2 flags to none. The enemy had possession of our last flag and was taking it to their side of the map. My entire team was still gaurding our flag room. WTF? Why are you in the flag room if the last flag is already taken? GO GET IT BACK! Needless to say, we lost shortly thereafter.
This next issue is common in both Warsong Gultch and Arathi Basin. I hate it... I really HATE IT... when the enemy team is grouped together into one big army, and my team is all spread around trying to do their own thing. The enemy just crushes us all individually. If the enemy is in a group, then you have to FIGHT AS A GROUP!
Yesterday I was complaining to my team about how I was tired of getting killed because I was always outnumbered. One of my teammates says to me "You're only in seventh place and I'm in second."
I was in seventh place because I was the ONLY PERSON ON MY TEAM actually trying to stop the flag carrier. I kept getting killed because there was a group of about 5 people with the flag carrier, and I didn't have anyone helping me. So what if you're in second place if all you're doing is killing stray enemies that are not strategically relevant. You're useless to the team effort. Get over here and HELP ME!
Maybe they should get rid of the leader board altogether. That way people won't be thinking about what place they're in. They'll just be thinking about whether or not the team is winning, and what they can do to help.|||Not really playing battlegrounds in WoW atm, but I had similar experiences in WAR. Some of the team would go off just chasing after the enemy while the rest would get pummled wherever we tried to defend.
The only advice I can offer is either join a guild that goes into battlegrounds alot or try to talk common sense into people. If there is a bonus when you win, tell them to try to earn that instead. Sometimes people just forget what they should be doing, and usually telling them what they should puts them on task. Just my two cents.|||Quote:

I agree with a lot of what you said, but the above is not entirely true for AB. True army v. army battles can be fun and you can certainly do well playing that way. There is another strategy that works well in AB: be where the enemy isn't. If they are literally all at BS you can cap all the other nodes with just a few people.|||Everything except level 80 Battlegrounds are frustrating at best, full of retards and twinks. Just level up and get to level 80, where (most) people are competent.|||Hears a simple fix for you, Get off the aliance side they all suck. most of them are young kids, sad to say it but more grown ups play horde.|||Quote:

I've played and still play on both factions at max level and fail to see this is true. The comment about children playing alliance is just myth. Yes alliance do lose BG's but that can be easily fixed with a small party and some skill and tactics. I play on the Cyclone battlegroup EU, arguably the most competitive battlegroup on the EU side and alliance win probably 40% of the BG's.|||This kind of stuff still happens in the level 80 bracket... Sad...|||Quote:

I don't mind losing, I don't mind some players on the team doing their own thing. I don't mind getting completely thumped by a person who outgears me. I don't mind when I don't get protected when I'm healing.
The one thing I can't stand in the battlegrounds is that incessant prat whining to their team.|||I echo Imraath.
Random group BGs will usually be clusterclucks - thats the nature of things. You will get the occasional random BG where everything clicks and the horde are swept aside like the dross they are (only kidding, I wuv my cow shammie).
At the moment my Gnomage is 52 so I am at the thin end of the bracket. If I'm in a BG that is not of the latter type, then I simply do what I can to achieve the best result possible. This usually involves picking a foe of around my level and sheeping him each time we meet and just running off. Harsh but a legitimate asset removal tactic in my book.
As a clothie there is little I can do without support. But Rambo-esque assaults on the flag or a node, or a solo flag carrier and entourage intercept with a suicide frost nova are still on my menu.
I dont care if I die, I dont care if I lose the round or even the whole BG, I just do what I can and find the fun on the way.
What does erk me are the people who think that filling the chat box with their ranting will give them some sort of kudos, or even elicit a response from the team.
If a BG works, it works. It will be a rare person who will draw a random group into a fighting force.|||On my hunter last night I had capped the first flag and was returning with the second being chased by a Paladin and a couple others a bit further back down the tunnel. Then the Horde take our flag and head the GY route. I checked map and saw he had another supporting him and 2 of our guys in close pursuit.
Back in the tunnel the Paladin stuns me, I trinket, trap and run into the flag room and out again heading to do a circuit up to the balcony and wait for our flag to be returned. This was done, I jump down to cap and land on the damn Paladin and his cronies (2 dk's I now see) who proceed to faceroll me and nick our flag.
One particular jerk starts screaming at me all the usual crap and spewing why had I run out and not capped the flag! I and another tried to explain basic WSG mechanics ie; we cannot cap the flag whilst the opposition are in control of ours. This guy went berserk, threatening to kill me, rape my mother, and, weirdly report me!!
I joined next bg and had a couple of players from the earlier bg said as I thought about the whole situation - that it was just poor luck. This stuff happens. No one mentioned the 5 players dementedly chasing people around in midfield
There are so many total nasty bastards that play this game and hide behind their computer acting all the hardman it really is a shame.
I will add that I am mainly a PvP'er and the hunter has about 22000 kills and honor capped. I would hardly call myself "pro" (yeah ofc PvP is about skills lol....NOT) but I know the basics - mechanics/maps/hiding locations/take the healer/support flag carrier/etc etc.
Oh and for anyone wondering why I took it as a hunter? Well, no one else could be arsed so I had a go.
That said, I do generally have a damn good time in most and usually after about 21:00 server time. Always good meeting up with other players who you have played with before and you know they know how the game works.
But there is always one bg that turns into a QQ fest shamefully :(
