Leechers in AV

So it's the middle of AV weekend and im grinding hard to upgrade my pvp gear. I usually dont do AV's much these days but it used to be my favourite battleground and i'd probably be exalted 5 times at this stage. So I know how it works and how to play it. I even respeced my hunter to Marksman when I seen the Frostwolf Emissaries to make the most of him just for AV .

I was quickly reminded why I stopped doing AV's shortly after joining. We always, always lose to the alliance. Everytime, bottlenecks near SH graveyard, the hill coming up to SP and bridge / alliance Aid station. The alliance always seem to have a good defence, their attack has our Aid station fully secure before we get to see Stormpike. It was very frustrating to lose game after game, but the honor was good and I was doing my best. People started to complain about the horde players we had 'guarding our tunnel' - basically doing nothing. I started to pay attention to this in the following games and realised that we, the horde, always seemed to have a minimum of 6 or 7 players per game that didnt leave the starting spot (and had 0 damage and healing done). The alliance had the odd leacher too but it was always only a fraction of what we had. This annoyed me as I feel we could of won, or at least did better and everyone would go home with more honor. Out of the 25 or so games I played we won 3.

My friend and flatmate is on the same server. He just turned lvl 61 and even though he felt he was low level he joined me for an AV. When he hit lvl 60 he started to play AV and became very fond of it. He got 50k honor just from his time playing 50-60 AVs. He claims the horde won 90% of the battlegrounds at the level. I believe him as we played together and I got to watch him from time to time - they always won. He couldnt believe the apathy and disorganisaton at lvl 70. He did one which we lost and swore he wouldnt play it again. He actually finished amonst the top few hordes.

The last 2 battlegrounds i did took the biscuit. Both of which had 16 people in the start spot. It was late at night and only a few active battlegrounds but I still couldnt believe it. After counting the hordes that had no input in anyway (2x to make sure, yep still 16) I counted the alliance to find out they had 3 to 4 players doing nothing both times.

We spent the duration of them battles with one graveyard - SH while the alliance controlled every single other and still gave us a run for our money at SH. One of my fellow hordes who I was consitently paired with claimed the record for the day was 17 horde leachers. I didnt last very long after this.

I also noticed players from my own realm who were camping on the starting spot. One of which was leader of a top server guild which recently disbanded for the summer. Earlier in the day I asked that same character for a rare enchant which he didnt have the time to do.

I really wish something could be done about this. Even drop the /afk time to 2-3 minutes in BG's would be something.

Blackout Eu battlegroup.

sorry for rant|||That's horrid. o.O I hate the people that go in AV at like, 61 and 51 and just do quests.|||Rather have those than the leechers.

I have taken to screenshotting the end result of matching - focusing on the 0kill/dmg/healing done ones.

Whilst blizzard might not do anything about those leechers, their guilds might.|||Yeah I would love to see Blizzard make the afk timer completely randomize itself in BG's (it shouldn't be that hard to do) so that it fluctuates from 5 mins to 1 min to 3 mins etc . . . would totally mess up there macro's and make it realy really obvious.|||Quote:

And their guilds might say, "you have better gear for pve content now, woot!"

Also, I could have sworn that your name was in green text in the past.|||Quote:

It's not "there macro's" (sic), "macro's" cannot generate input events, input events are needed to avoid the AFK.

While everyone's fuming about this, remember that both sides have the same problem, I've seen it at the same level on both factions in the same battlegroup- alliance is just as bad. If you play really late at night the problem seems to be worse, too.|||When I say macro's I mean a macro program not the "in-game macro" interface (I should have specified) - to automate keystrokes mouse movements etc (would the loader pick that up? - hopefully so)

I'm guessing this is how they do it.

Although one of those funny birds filled will colored water slowly pecking the space bar comes to mind and makes me laugh - like that simpsons episode where Homer works from home and get's fat . . . lol

"My Owner Is Afk In AV"

I've played some free online games where this was allowed and have used free programs to do things like make items over and over to raise a skill after recording my mouse movements and having it repeat a set number of times. Though I now know this is considered cheating/boting in 99% of MMORPGS (and would never do it now that I know the general consensus)- though 6-8 years or so ago - some allowed it.

Yeah I def. see it from both factions as well.|||Quote:

Other than the gladiator weapons, PvP gear isn't all that hot for PvE - generally speaking.

And some guilds might dislike the damage done to their good name when there's leechers about.

Sidenote, you would've been right about that name.|||Leachers are being dealt with.

Gladiator weapons will require a rating and not just points to buy.

These are only a few of the upcoming changes.

Aerath, sorry bout the name. Thought it was a good thing the way it was, not is as far as my opinion goes.

Oh, i posted all the upcoming known changes in this link.

http://wow.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=401673|||Personally I don't leech but I can fully understand people doing it.

1. Matches can take hours and hours

2. Most massive battles are only fun for ranged classes since every melee class dies within seconds when (s)he gets near the enemy

As a rogue, I HATE AV. It's the most horrible PvP experience up to date.

3. It's boring (imo) and chaotic

Yes it CAN be organized and cooperative but that happens 1 in every 10 matches. Perhaps. If you're lucky.

If you want a mount or some other AV-related PvP rewards there's no alternative for AV so you'll still have to get your marks. Leeching doesn't get honour but still the accursed marks.

Sometime I wonder what people would play if all BGs gave the same marks.

So yes, sorry to say, but until there's an alternative way to get those marks I have full understanding for leechers.
