Why alliance loses so much in bgs

I believe alliance loses so much because they are more worried about getting HKs than winning by the objectives of the BG.

I don't know WHY alliance does this and horde doesn't, but this is what I see ALL the time:

WSG: 5 people will go into flag room and try to kill all the horde in there rather than grabbing the flag and running. In fact NOBODY will take the flag at all until all horde are gone. Whereas I will run in, ignore the horde, get the flag and try to get out. You can also watch alliance players leave the GY and go after the first horde they see in mid-field, rather than riding by and going after the flag in the enemy base - their excuse? "i couldn't get by".

AB: Nobody will even try to cap a flag unless horde are all dead. They fight endlessly. I've seen groups of like 3-4 horde hold off 8-man ally zergs just because nobody would try to get the flag. The parade from the GY means alliance loses that fight. They also tend to not call out incoming to a node until its already lost, and almost never say how many are coming. If I see "inc 3 to farm" I check my map and see 3 alliance there and figure they're fine, if he just says "inc farm" it doesnt really tell me anything that useful :(

EOTS: People will fight in no-man's land, or worse yet fight in the graveyard while enemies are inside the base converting it. When attacking an enemy-controlled node they will fight outside the base rather than riding in. And my personal pet peeve is when 2-3 alliance hit an undefended node and stand in the open for all horde to see, rather than hiding behind fel-reaver's legs or inside the BET/MT. If you hide they won't send everyone at you until the node has already been lost - at least that way you've cost them some points!

I sometimes feel like people just don't think at all when they do BG's. I've seen so many rambos in AB charge a flag 3 horde vs them, rather than peeling off or at least waiting for help. I've been 2s from capping a flag and rather than sheep the person running at me, alliance mages start a pyro - I get knocked off flag, and the cap fails, but wahoo big #'s pyro!.

As i said, don't know WHY it's so bad for alliance witht hese things, but if you ever wonder why you lose so much its because of poor decision making, and the commitment tot he HK over the BG goal :(|||I think we are doing better now and the wining ratio has been around 40% for pugs and 95% for my guild premade. I won 60% yesterday in all pugs.|||On my battlegroup Horde wins most BGs (AV still the exception) because of one simple thing: they believe when they start that they are going to lose. Crazy huh? It's true though, and I've seen it time and time again. "Let them 5 cap so we can lose I neeeeeeed my mark!" "Horde always wins." "Alliance sucks!" and on and on. Horde couldn't post better propaganda than that, if you *try* to win you often get booed for "prolonging" the fight. Heck, last WSG weekend there was a guy in IF making premades *to lose*. His goal was actually to lose as quickly as possible. So yeah, on Ruin we lose cause Alliance has bought the line and would rather lay down and take it rather than make the effort.

As for me, I'll fight the good fight and die with my enemy's heart in my hand.|||hmm its funny but I'm on the horde side and they are always complaining about why the horde loses all the time :p|||Quote:

It really does depend on your battlegroup. Alliance does pretty well in everything but AV in mine. (The Hordehave been getting better in EotS, though. I think the fact that we have 1 hour queues for AV now has the Horde stepping up their game elsewhere. Our main problem now is that half the BG leaves halfway through when AV pops.)

The funny thing about the original post is that you could pretty safely swap every instance of the words "horde" and "alliance" and it would be dead on for my server. Although the alliance often does the same things in my BG. It's pretty easy for both sides to lead the dumb away from flags. Now, if I could just get our rogues to ninja the flags when I pull the 3 Allys away instead of trying to rescue me, we would be set.

In the end, the BGs we win are the ones where we have teamwork. In AB, EotS, and WSG, that means we need a leader with enough Charisma (or enough smart players) to get people to do what they need to do. When someone leads well, and people listen, we win. AV is a bit easier, since the Horde all seem to know the drill without being told. You do occasionally have to redirect a few people, but there are enough people there that if you call for help, someone will come.|||Funny after this post I installed an addon to keep track of the wins and losses, it actually ended around 50% for all BG's, some of my guildies did the same and found out it was around 50% for them as well.

So I guess its not that bad at least in our BGroup :p|||I have been playing a lot of EOTS as of late and things have been going downhill. 9 out of 10 games i get into are alliance premades, and most of the other horde players bolt as soon as they see it's a premade or we all sit up on the rock till its over. Sometimes we can't even get half the players needed....

Time to find another bg...|||Quote:

Rest assured the alliance are doing the same thing in AB as well.

I'm guessing you're in a battlegroup where the horde play defense in AV?|||Quote:

you should start doing premades too. Today some friends and I did that in my server. And we were actualy amazed to see how many alli premades left the bg as soon as they realized we had premade as well|||In my battlegroup the Alliance loses pretty much every time at WSG, AB, and EoTS. WSG and AB being the worst. I can't remember the last time I won an AB or WSG without being in a premade. We rarely win EoTS and it is about 50/50 on AV.

That's why I love AV weekend so much. I get massive amounts of honor and on top of that I actually win for once.
