Strand of the Ancients

[:1]How are you liking Strand of the Ancients?

I've only run it 4 or 5 times and it's a bit confusing. But I guess any bg is at first. At least the horde won every battle I've been in so far.

At level 71 (at the time) I wasn't much help; just throwing down the heals and drawing the ire of the higher level alli's.

Anyone have tactics or thoughts to share?|||Getting the tanks moving, when attacker, or destroyed, when defender, is probably THE most important thing in Strand.

When attacking focus on the gates, and grab the graveyards between the first and second gates for up to 4 extra tanks, and a shorter walk/drive back to the fight.

As defender, 4 people to the cannons, focus on the tanks. Any footies getting caught in your shots is just a bonus. Everyone not in the cannons should also focus on the tanks.

As attacker you also have the option of using Massice Seaforium charges, which is quite suicidal since you have to get to the gate, ON FOOT, to deploy them. If you really want to try using them, hitch a ride on the tank and dismount when you get there, since the tanks have 3 seats, of which 2 are for pasengers.

Passengers in tanks can shoot and cast spells, but NOT heal themselves or use melee attacks. As an upside they can't be targeted while onboard the tank.

When controlling a tank, drive for the gate and get all the way up to it, firing shots all the while and when at the gate, alternating ramming and shooting. The important thing about tanks is that they don't regenerate, not can they be healed.

Think that covers it all.

Btw you can carry seaforium while mounted as well :)|||Loving the BG so far, really interesting and inovative. It was a bit confusing at first but it goes smoother after doing a few of them.

I'm currently having a problem with it, every once in a while i get kicked out of the BG for no obvious reason (with the deserter debuff ofc). Anyone else experiencing that?|||Yep great Bg, If everyone does what is needed else it is completely frustrating.

Because of the timer, you will need to zerg as the opposite faction shoud be doing it too.

Attacking: Everyone Must go to the same gate, everyone should pick up a seaforium charge whenever they rez or start, they are at the dock, the garages and inside the yellow gate. If you are not in a tank then u need to get your charges on the gates and defend the tanks as a priority.

There is only one place to go for HK farming and the beach is not the place, do not sit there fighting peeps on the beach while our tanks are being attacked sacrifice your life and defend the tanks.

Once the first tier gate is down the Priority is the GY! If you Zerg the gate succesfully they will have trouble pulling back in time and the tanks should hit the second tier whilst a mounted person gets the GY, This should be able to be done before the defenders can react.

Continue to grab tanks and charges and defend the tanks and keep the other faction on the back foot and its an easy victory with a good time. Then u just need to stop the other faction beating your time.

Defending: All four cannons need to be manned. Everyone else should be on the beaches attacking the tanks, sure the cannons can kill the tanks but not without help and not before they have hit and damaged the gates, thus the damage from foot soldiers is critical to defending the gate and killing the tanks. If you can do this and knock out the initail zerg they wont have time to win or be all over the place with rez times that you will out number them and be able to stay on top of them.

As SOON as they break thru the first tier no defenders should remain on the beaches, peeps need to get back on to the next tier cannons. Not only to kill the tanks but to frustrate the GY cappers the cannons can actually reach the GY Flag, so unless the GY capper is on the far side of the flag the cannons can stop them capping.

The defenders need to be away from the gates their defending to give them Max time to do damage to tanks before they get in range of the gates, so they do less damage before they get blown up.

Especially once the yellow gate is down the defenders need to be on the cannons, and out the front of the gate to kill tanks before they get in range of the relic door. This is were u can farm HKs, if your entire team is blocking the yellow gate (when its down) then you will generally way out number the opposition who are coming up in dribs and drabs from rezzing or getting tanks and should easily be able to keep on top of them, and max your kill count.

IF you do not get Back quickly enough it is Game over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!|||Here's a question for you guys. As a passenger, how do you dismount from a tank? There's no red arrow to push to get off!|||I think there is a red arrow its just alot smaller and its next to your normal bars. Im not sure how a custum UI would handle it, im using Blizz default bars.|||Bartender adds an extra little bar with 2 buttons. I would like to add: group up your tanks after each attempt. It is easy to take down one tank at a time but it is hard to take down 2 tanks or more.
