[:1]I've done a lot of WSGs with a Rogue and Hunter. I have a few specific questions:
1. Good add-ons?
Which add-ons are useful for BGs (not just WSG)?
2. Recognizing classes
I still have a hard time recognizing classes of the opposing faction (e.g. I want to kill a healer but it turns out to be a mage). Any suggestions? Any add-ons that help me here?
3. Focused attack
It's obviously better to all attack the same target, and then more on to the next. So is there a way to make sure this happens? What I've tried is put a team member (e.g. other hunter) on focus and having a macro on keybind (something like /assist [target:focus]). Any other suggestions?|||I can help a bit with the Rogue, as I've run WSG in the 29 bracket for a bit.
1. Addon, SSPvP is a good one, it helps keep track of Battleground stats, and other important things. Useful in any Battleground.
2. Target the opposing faction player and look at the name plate and pic. Classes have the name in color. For example: Priests: White, Mages: Light Blue, Warlocks: Purple, Druids: Dark Orange, Warriors: Brown, Death Knights: Dark Red, Rogues: Yellow, Hunters: Light Green, Paladins: Pink, Shamans: Dark Blue.
Each class also has a specific symbol, for example Priests have a staff symbol that looks like a white cross type staff with a blue center, while Mages also have a staff symbol that looks more like a red crystal tipped wand (maybe it is a wand), Palading have a Hammer or Maul looking symbol.
Learn to associate the color of the names and the class symbols with the class types.
3. With my Rogue I used to always go for the flag and rarely fight, when I did fight, I searched out healers or mages if no healers were available then went after them via left clicking to target, then I snuck in and killed them. I also added keybinds for the "A" and "S" keys to target the nearest Alliance memner or the previous if I was in the thick of things. I used the keybinds less because I always went after healers or mages first and even waited until a fight started and jumped them in all the confusion.|||race can give you a good indicator about what class someone is. for example, if you see an orc caster in robes, its going to be a warlock, since you can't make orc priests or mages. Usually you can recognise a class without targetting on them by watching their animations. priest spells mostly give off a white glow when they're being cast (look at the hands). mages will have either blue (frost), yellow/red (fire) or purple (arcane) glows on their hands while casting.
remember that pallys can heal as can druids and shaman. pallys and druid healers are easy to spot, especially once you get higher leveled. they will always have high mana pools and the druids will usually be in tree form (gained at level 50). shaman are slightly harder because you can get elemental shaman with high mana pools but shaman give off a green glow when casting a healing spell. of course, all specs of these classes can heal, but they will usually just keep hitting you untill you die, without trying to heal.
also, once you've targetted a player, if you hover over the player's frame, it will bring up a tooltip showing the race, class and level or that player.|||Thanks, very useful answers.|||What is happening with rated BGs, looking forward to that|||Thanx for sharing with us.
