healing in bgs

[:1]Been levelling up my baby priest a bit, and Im at the top end of the bg bracket so I've been pvp'ing it up - Maybe its because my main is a warrior and Im still new to priests....but I have some trouble healing in bg's (not much) Just wondering if anyone out there uses any addons that help a bit with healing, whether in bgs or dungeons.

thanks for the input in advance|||I use an addon called perfect raid which gives me a clearer view of all the health bars. Another option for this is called Grid but I didn't get on as well with it.

For casting sells there's a nice Addon called Clique which lets you bind heals to mouse clicks. It's a bit restrictive but really simplifies things.

Personally I have a set of Mouse over targeting macros which I think is a lot more flexible.

The addons are available on most addon sites, I don't like to link to my favorite one.

The macros can be found with google aswell.|||Maybe you could be a little more specific about the problems you're having? I'm not sure what to suggest if I don't know where your difficulties lie.

But for general addons, I mostly agree with Mallstrop. I use Grid, and mouseover macros instead of Clique, because I hate clicking. I've never needed anything else specifically for healing -- the simpler the better, really.|||ill give those a shot this week and see how they go. my main issue has been, ardani, trying to keep up with everyone that needs healing...though, that being said..the times im referring to its me..healing..and say 9 dps'ers in WSG lol

so maybe its just the mix of players in the BG's ive played thus far with my priest..and it could also be im used to playing my warrior. Its just a little difficult to keep everyone alive (or as alive as possible)

I guess, what Im looking for, is something that maybe displays everyones health in an easy to read format. Ive seen addons on some of my pally buddies UI's that looks like they have everyones health bars and names in one corner of the screen, and he would just click and heal away.|||I have found x-perl unit frames very useful. It has options to fade toons that arent in your casting range then I just use my normal mouseover healing macros on those that are in range.|||I'm probably one of the few people that feels this way, but mods really aren't going to add a whole lot to your gameplay. Just play your healer enough that the layout of your keys and spells becomes ingrained. Once that starts to kick in, you'll find yourself keeping more and more people alive longer.

But if you don't have the "target of target" option toggled, do so immediately. I've found this feature is a quick and easy way to scan your friends/foes and see who needs an hot, who needs to be rooted/cycloned etc etc.|||Quote:

You may be able to do fine in the smaller battlegrounds, but even by the time you get to AB and EotS, it can be hard to select your target to heal. People have this annoying habit of not standing still. I have a key set up to cycle through friendly targets, but it seems to miss a lot of people in range, plus it takes time to find the target you want.

By the time you get to AV, there is no way you can click people to select a target or cycle through friendlys in an efficient way. You could pull out the default raid frames, but it will pretty much cover your screen with it, and just the time your eye has to spend scanning all of it wastes precious time.

I waited a long time before using any mods (outside of auctioneer) mostly due to lazyness. I think I was level 64 when I finally got around to installing grid and clique. I went into AV to give it a good test run and was astounded by how much more useful I was as a healer. Grid allows me to focus on several people at once without wasting any time trying to target the next person.

I would hazard a guess that most people who say you don't need mods to heal your best probably haven't actually given those mods a good try.|||I actually havent tried any of those yet. Ive been too lazy LOL

Thought, Ive been playing my healer a bit each evening for a BG or two and people are starting to know my name, which is kind of cool. Ive just been hitting CTRL+V to pull up health bars and I made a few macros and Ive gotten a bit of a groove down I guess. All I needed was some time away from splatting people with my warrior, hehe.

At any rate, I'm going to eventually give some of these mods a try, because if Im doign well now, then Im assuming Ill do even better|||Grid/Clique as mentioned.

Perfect Raid / Pitbull / AG_UF (Unit Frames)

All those have a Distance fade and Aggro colouring.|||Quote:

Grid/Clique as mentioned.
