Is there a point to - Report player AFK?

[:1]This happens all the time I know and last night 3 times in a row in AB 60-69 bracket battles there was a particular 69 warrior with the best health of the entire group just ran to stables and kept running into the wall. When killed he would just run off into another wall. I report him AFK and it says "a notification has been sent to <leeching filth player>". I asked others too aswell but was universally ignored.

Am I just wasting my time bothering to report? What niggles me is he had the best health and good gear and would have been a real bonus to our team. The battles were very close but we lost 2 of the 3 he was in. Im sure we would have won the other 2 if he had actually bothered ;)

Im not wasting the 3 seconds reporting if there is simply no point.

This isnt a "I hate AFK'ers" thread as I already do , just what is the function of this tool? How many have to report for a /kick?|||If no-one else is going to report the leecher as AFK then the system is useless.

Even if the Warrior you mentioned was flagged as inactive and getting no honor,

I think the flag would have been lifted when an enemy player attacked him.

(This would consider him/her as engaged in pvp combat.)

Sadly a lot of players simply don't care as long as they get to kill stuff.

It's when they start losing that the moaning starts.

The "new" anti-leech system is a damn sight better than what used to be

in-place (nothing) but the BG's are still plagued by bots.

I don't think there's much that can be done to be honest.

(Short of displaying a random CAPCHA on the screen at random intervals during BG's.)|||ya i dont think blizzard is willing to go the lengths to rid there battlegrounds of afkers. i mean they did try but i mean why couldnt they make the system so it kicks the inactive person out of the Bg after a certain amount of time|||They do. I've walked away from my computer for a couple minutes to do something else while in a BG and come back to me having been kicked out and with deserter status.|||If you actually go AFK the system boots you from the BG immediately. The report system is there for ppl putting a paper-weight on their run-key and going off to do whatever.|||Quote:

Blizzard has a policy of either not interfering with normal gameplay, or minimizing the effects as much as possible, when dealing with hindrances, such as AFK'ers in BGs. As a result, some decisions take a lot of discussion, meetings, planning, and testing various implementations internally to determine what may or may not be the best choice. These things don't happen overnight, and take a considerable amount of time to have happen.

It isn't like Blizz is completely ignoring issues though. Look how long it took for them to deal with keyloggers, and the solution really makes keyloggers useless for hacking accounts when you have an Authenticator...|||Quote:

Good. If you're going to walk away, leave the BG... if you need to do something, don't queue.|||Quote:

I thought this didn't work anymore. Back before the expansion me and my friend used to put a few coins on our turn key, leave anto-run on and go and do whatever. This would keep us logged in indefinitely, but that changed and we were getting logged out. I can't remember when it changed but I'm sure it did.

Note: We did this to stay logged in and avoid the queues back when there were HUGE queues. Not to PvP.
