im new to WOW so can someone explain what Battlegrounds is? and when you die what do you loose? and where do i go to have a look at around and see what its all about im only level 18 gnome mage but still want to check it out

At level 18 you can only go into Warsong Gulch ;)|||It's a place where two teams of the opposite site are pitted against each other.

Horde on the one end, Alliance on the other.

Teams can be made up out of randoms or premade teams.

You'll first enter Warsong Gulch (WSG) - a capture the flag BG. Goal is to get their flag to your base, whilst they don't have your flag.

18-19 (and later 28-29 etc) is a fine level to enter. Don't try to enter at x0-x4 unless you hate your team mates ;)

You can get honour and battleground marks for doing the games. Win and get 3 marks, lose and 1 is your share. You can buy gear for the marks at the 'proper' entrances (WSG in Ashenvale, Arathi Basin [starts from 20 onwards] in Arathi Highlands and later on Alterac Valley [51+] in Alterac Mountains).

You can find the rewards and their cost on the official Blizzard Pages, as well as some more detailed info on the specific BGs.

If you kill someone - or, more likely if it's your first time in there, someone kills you - you can 'take their insignia' from their body. It's not unlike looting. You get a few silver and they will be forced to respawn at the battleground's graveyard. Every 30seconds the people who were killed get resurrected.

If your insignia doesn't get taken, you can run back to your corpse as ghost as res there. Most of the times isn't not worthwhile (ressing at the BG GY gives you full health and mana), but sometimes a frost nova or a Polymorph when they're hassling your flag carrier can save the day.

Just a word of warning though - the lower rank BGs, pretty much up to 49 even, all will feature 'twinks'. These are characters with pretty much the best gear and enchants available to them at the level. Rogues and Hunters are prime candidates. They can probably kill you before you put a dent in 'em.

Not saying that's all the BGs consist of, just that you will run into them.

Other than that, go in, have a look and if you enjoy yourself then spend some more time in there =)

There's even a Daily Battleground Quest rotating through the various Battlegrounds from the Battlemasters near the sign up spots in the major cities. If it's for Warsong Gulch, pick up the quest and see if you can get the win. It's some free money, experience and silver for something you'd be doing anyway =)

Unfortunately, you can only see those daily quests if you can go in, so AB, AV and Eye of the Storm won't be showing a quest yet.|||thanks for that info much appreciated :)

Best way is to have a higher level mage port you there. They need to be 50+ and the stone they use costs 18-20s, so be prepared to at least pay for it. 50s tip would be even better. If you don't want to pay, you need to go back to ironforge, then run through Dun Morogh to Loch Modan to Wetlands. All the way west in wetlands is a little town called Menethil Harbor. There is a boat there that will take you to Darkshore. From Darkshore you can take another boat to Darnassus or run south down to Ashenvale. Don't worry about that for now though - You won't be able to buy anything from one or two matches

You might be able to ask someone else to sign you up from another place (be it major city or the actual entrance) if they're in the same level bracket as you. Then you'll exit at the place they signed up from once you're done (or /afk out).|||Quote:

well if you are in stormwind just run into stormwind keep go into the room directly behind the child king and his guards. the warsong gulch battlemaster is in that room
